Natural Cures for Allergic Rashes

Natural Cures for AllergiesWhen you have a serious allergy, rashes caused by it can become a regular occurrence. This is not just evidence of your allergies, it is also very inconvenient and frustrating. Prescription remedies are expensive plus you have to get a doctor’s signature to receive them. The cheapest solution is to use natural cures to solve your allergy rash problem. The natural cure movement has been growing steadily over the past decade. The reason is obvious for anyone who has had extensive health problems during their life.

Natural cures are safer for you to take because they involve no controlled substances. They also have few or no side effects. If side effects occur, they are much milder than any that might be caused by prescription grade chemicals. Natural cures also are very popular with people who are trying to rid their body of unnatural chemicals.

This desire comes from the school of thought that unnatural chemicals cause many of mankind’s physical ailments. However, most people turn to natural cures simply out of frustration with the complete lack of progress from the medical system in general. Often people get the feeling that doctors, drug companies and pharmacists are more interested in selling product than in curing their problem. No matter what the reason you decide to pursue natural medicine, the cures are the same.

The first step is to clean the area of the rash thoroughly, especially if the rash is caused by contact with the cause of your allergy. This is also important to prevent infection. If the allergy rash is infected, you do need to treat the infection first before you worry about the rash. In the future, take action quickly when an allergy rash occurs so you can prevent infection and the additional medical issues that come with it.

One method you might use while you are washing the area affected by the allergy rash in an oatmeal bath or with oatmeal soap. These have the advantage of restoring the moisture to your skin because oatmeal does not remove natural oils or moisture. After you get out of the bath, air dry your skin to preserve moisture in the skin tissue. If you must use a towel, patting yourself dry is the best solution.

Moisturizing creams can sooth the burning sensation of a particularly bad allergy rash. This is assuming that the main cause of your discomfort is skin dryness. If you still have small particles of what you are allergic to in your skin, then moisturizing creams will not be as effective in causing relief. For healing the skin, you will need a hydrocortisone cream. These have been proven to be highly effective in treating and healing allergy rashes and cracked skin. Another good idea if your skin is drying out in the winter months is to have a humidifier in the room you sleep in to keep your skin moist at night.

The best natural cure however is preventative. Try to diagnose the causes of your allergic rashes. It could be anything from an animal rubbing up against you to working in the garden. If the cause is not obvious at first, then keeping a journal of your rashes and what you did before they occurred will perhaps shed some light on the problem.
