Another clue that your sinus problems are not the result of a flu or cold is that it is common for a sinus allergy problem to not generate a fever and to not result in other symptoms like nausea, chills, body aches or fatigue.  However, when a sore throat sinus problems surface that may be accompanied by a headache, that is an alert to you that your routine allergy sinus problems may be progressing to a sinus infection. When the symptoms of your sinus allergy episode begin to become more severe, you may experience a sore throat sinus symptom along with other more significant problems such as aches in the jaw, problems hearing and loss of balance.  When that happens, your allergy sinus problem may have progressed to a sinus infection.

To be clear, a sinus infection is not directly part of your allergy problem.  A sinus infection happens when the mucus that fills up your sinus because of your allergy sinus reaction become infected with bacteria which then cause the sinuses membranes to be come infected.  A sinus infection can result from problems with your sinuses related to a cold or flu as well.

However, if you suffer with routine sinus allergy symptoms, it is wise to be alert to the development of a sore throat sinus problem or other symptoms of a sinus infection.  Another clue that a sinus infection is setting is may be when you are unable to get relief form your normal allergy treatments that you have come to depend on.  So if you use prescription or nonprescription drugs and they normally get your sinus allergy problem under control but your symptoms continue and include sinus infection symptoms as well, that is when it is time to seek medical help.

While a sinus infection may not come with every allergy sinus problem, it is something to be aware of and take appropriate action.  But a sinus infection is not cause for panic despite the misery the symptoms of a sore throat sinus problem can bring.  Generally, your doctor will prescribe an antibiotic to stop the infection in its tracks.  Once that happens, as your sinuses being to drain, the sinus infection will go away and those miserable systems will disappear in due time as well.

For the allergy sinus sufferer, being aware of the possibility of a sinus infection is important.  The more you are able to recognize a sore throat sinus symptom or other evidences that your regular allergy symptoms is taking on the characteristics of a sinus infection, the quicker you can get it under control.  Then if you take your battle against sinus allergies to the next level and learn to avoid the causes of your allergy sinus episodes, you can live a long time between sinus episodes because you were smart in how you handled your own allergy problem rather than letting it handle you.
