Right Now Solutions to an Allergy Sinus Headache
Allergy Sinus HeadacheWhen you have an allergy sinus headache, the last thing you need is a lecture on the origin of allergies and the medical details of what is going on in your head.  You need a solution to your allergy headache now before it gets any worse.  The one thing you know about an allergy headache is that if you don’t do something about it, it will probably get worse before it gets better. The sinuses will continue to fill up putting more pressure on nerves of your face and head which will cause your ear drums to fill up and your head to pound in that unique way that tells you it is your allergies that are making you miserable.

An allergy sinus headache has it's own personality. It is a dull and constant pain rather than a sharp pain that another kind of headache might cause. The pain will be present in your head, your cheeks, your forehead and maybe even in your jaws.  It only takes a small movement of the head for the pain of an allergy sinus headache to get much worse. You will experience a fullness of the sinuses combined with drainage which can cause nausea. Sometimes the sinuses will be come so inflamed, your face will swell, you may develop a fever and your ears could become full which can cause problems with your ear resulting in poor balance.

All headaches are miserable but an allergy sinus headache is the kind of suffering that can make you urgent for relief as quickly as possible.  If you are already under a doctor's care for your allergy sinus headaches, quickly begin taking the medications that have been prescribed for you.  Do not give in to the temptation to take more than the prescribed amount just because you are miserable.  Take the right amount and give the medicine time to do its work.

If you do not have prescription drugs to take for your allergy sinus headaches or if your doctor has given you permission to take over the counter drugs for pain, take them as well.  This might include aspirin, Advil, Benedryl or other allergy medicines that are designed to blow open your sinuses and drain them or dry them out to give you relief from the pain you are going through. Keep in mind that some allergy mediations like Benadryl can cause significant drowsiness so don't take them and then try to drive to work.  Even though you are in agony, handle your recovery sensibly.

There are some simple things you can do to begin to open up your sinuses to get the flow of gunk coming out of them.  Only when your sinuses begin to dry out or empty out will you feel relief from the allergy sinus headache. Steam is effective in opening up the sinuses as is caffeine.  So a hot cup of coffee or two can do wonders and the hot water can dilute whatever has drained into your stomach which can calm your nausea. A hot towel on the face or a steaming hot shower can also work wonders at opening up the sinuses and making them drain. Some foods like very hot and spicy salsa do the trick as well.

Once you get control over your sinus allergy headache, take a moment to take note of what worked and what didn’t.  The things that put you on the road to recovery should become the law of the land for what to do the next time you get an allergy sinus headache.  And you know you will be fighting another headache like that again at some point because sinus allergy problems don’t go away on their own.  So learn to beat them at their own game and you will be able to get that next painful allergy sinus headache out of your life quickly and efficiently every time.
