Parents at War Against Infant Allergies
Paretnts Fight Allergies in InfantsThe war parents of very young children wage against infant allergies is a noble battle to engage for sure.  Allergies that get their start in infancy can become lifelong problems.  But if parents successfully put those allergies under submission, the problem for the child could be much less severe for the rest of his or her life.  Newborns may arrive with a predisposition to allergies, which is primarily driven by what allergic problems the infant inherits from genetics.  

While that genetic predisposition to infant allergies is a big part of what determines if your baby will have to deal with allergic symptoms, parents can do a lot to limit the exposure of infants to allergens.  Infancy is a time when the extent of impact allergies will have on your child for all of her life is primarily determined.  Therefore, the work you do to control allergies during infancy can have a lifelong impact on your youngster's quality of life for decades if not for the rest of her life.

It is important to understand that many babies show symptoms of infant allergies that clear up in a few years.  An infant's immune system is also immature when the child is born.  So that immune system needs time to adjust to how to property deal with allergens.  Limiting the exposure that youngster has to allergy causing substances gives the little one's immune system the time it needs to grow into the job of protecting her from illness down the road.  That is good enough reason for parents to engage this war against infant allergies aggressively.  It’s a short-term war but the outcome can affect the health of your child forever.

Some strongly held home remedies to infant allergies have proven to be helpful in the war against infant allergies.  One such belief is that breast-feeding is one of the best ways to help your child fight back against allergies.  Breast milk has been proven to be able to help the development of the baby's immune system which is what needs to happen to empower the infant to be able to fight allergies later in life.

There was even a study done that was published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood that documented that babies that were breastfed had a significantly lower likelihood of developing allergies during their infancy years.  But seeing nursing as a means to battle infant allergies means that mom should think twice about her diet.  After all, what mom eats becomes the basis of the nutrition that is passed on to the baby.  

In most cases, even if a mom who is nursing consumes foods that contain known allergens, that doesn't automatically mean the baby will develop an allergy.  But if the child is in a high-risk category for allergies, it is just prudent for the mother to eliminate some foods that are known to because infant allergies from her diet.  

Once you wean the baby off of nursing, you can continue your war against infant allergies by buying hypoallergenic formulas to serve as your infant's first food.  It is wise to use the advice of the baby's pediatrician as to what to look for in a formula.  There are many such formulas that do not use milk products or any other foods that are considered to have a high likelihood of triggering allergic reactions in babies.  

But be aware that some hypoallergenic formulas substitute soy for milk products.  Soy can also become an allergen in some babies.  So consult with your child's doctor for the best advice as to how to manage this crucial part of the infant's life.

Obviously, food allergies are not the only potential allergic problems an infant can face.  So take your war against infant allergies into the air and into the nursery as well.  The number one enemy to banish from the home is cigarette smoke.  By keeping the air clean and by paying attention to the dust levels in the house, you can maintaining a sanctuary against allergies in your home so your baby can enjoy her infancy with very little possibilities of experiencing allergy related problems.  While these are not the only health concerns parents have, the fight against infant allergies is something we know enough about that you can win this battle before it even gets started.
