Allergic reactions may come in various ways and skin rashes are not the least common when it comes to such allergic reactions. Allergic skin reactions may come from a various triggers – from laundry detergent to clothing. Here are the main skin rashes that can be triggered by allergies. First, there is the so-called atopic dermatitis or eczema. The atopic dermatitis comes with symptoms that include itchy and dry skin. Mainly, it can be aggravated by laundry detergent, clothing and stress. This type of skin rash may be found especially in the case of families that already have a history of hay fever or asthma. The first thing when it comes to treating eczema is through a proper skin care that exclude the use of soaps that have creams or scents in their formulas. Also, if you are suffering from atopic dermatitis, you will have to avoid particular types of clothing – for instance, wool, because such clothing will only aggravate your skin condition. Plus, you will have to use warm water when showering and bathing and forget about using body lotions that have extra ingredients. The second type of skin rash is contact dermatitis, a condition that is mainly caused by direct contact with substances that have the ability to cause a rashes on the skin. Also, this type of dermatitis can be triggered by doing things that irritate the skin. For instance, contact dermatitis is most likely to happen when the person comes in direct contact with poison oak, poison ivy or fake jewelry. The contact dermatitis will affect only the parts of the body and skin that have been touched by the allergen. The proper treatment will come in the form of lotions and creams that are to be used topically. The allergic drug rash may be caused by having strong and adverse reactions to medicine. For instance, a person may experience allergic reactions to particular drugs and this is when the skin rash breaks out. However, there is no specific test in order to determine whether a skin rash is caused by a particular allergy to a medicine or not. A dermatologist may choose to recommend a patient to stop taking particular drugs in order to find out more about the rash's course of action. Hives is a terrible skin rash that may occur on every part of the body. Also, hives may be triggered through various means besides allergy. For instance, hives may be induced by outside factors or stress. Unfortunately, there is no cream or medicine for hives and the red and itchy bumps will follow their course. You should keep in mind that not all skin rashes are likely to be allergies and you must never self diagnose especially because skin rashes may be triggered by different medical conditions besides allergies. Just make sure that you always go to your health care provider in order to find out more about the real nature of your skin rash. Once your skin rash turns out to be a real skin rash, you will have to pay a visit to an allergist in order to run the necessary tests that will let you know to what particular substance you are allergic to.
