But on occasions, some patients have experienced some coughing, a sore throat, headaches, nosebleeds or a viral infection as a result of a reaction to nasal antihistamines. Nasonex is the type of allergy relief drug that is taken directly into the nose by a spray. Test the inhaler before beginning treatments to be sure it is a good fit to the size of your nasal cavity opening. It is best not to spray it toward the middle of the nose. One technique that works well is to hold the inhaler in one hand to spray it into the opposite nostril.
